Our Mission
Why newcomerkit.ca exists — and the promises we make to every newcomer who uses it.
Moving to a new country means making big decisions — banking, privacy, housing — with no local knowledge, often in a second language, while everyone tries to sell you something.
newcomerkit.ca exists to fix that imbalance. We build free tools and plain-language guides that help newcomers to Canada make confident decisions.
Our commitments
- Tools first, articles second. We build interactive tools you can use right now — a leak test, a VPN quiz, a password checker, a letter generator — not just words about a topic.
- Independent recommendations. We recommend what’s actually best for newcomers, including services that pay us nothing — like Mullvad and Bitwarden. Every commercial relationship is disclosed on our How we make money page.
- Plain language, zero jargon. If a newcomer can’t understand it, we rewrite it. Every page is published in English and French.
- Honest about limits. We’re not lawyers, bankers, or immigration consultants. Our disclaimer says plainly what we are — and what we aren’t.
These commitments are public so you can hold us to them.
